Key to table of geographical distribution of sequence types

Each row in the table is a distinct sequence type.

Column 1: The haplogroup assignment of each sequence type, based on HVS-I sequence, np 73 status and selective RFLP typing.  The diagnostic motifs for the haplogroups shown can be found by clicking here.  A few unclassified sequence types are indicated by "n/c".  A "?" indicates a tentative assignment in cases where we were not able to perform addition typing to clarify the haplogroup of the sample.

Column 2: The HVS-I sequence of each sequence type reported between nps 16090 and 16365.  Add 16000 to the numbers to find which positions differ from the Cambridge reference sequence.  The differences are transitions unless the base is specified explicitly.  Deletions are indicated with a "del" and insertions by a "+" and the base inserted.  Length variation in the region 16182-16192 is not generally shown.   A "?" after a sequence type indicates that it may contain sequencing artifacts.

Rest of table:  Numbers of subjects for the sequence type concerned in each population in the Near East, in the Caucasus and in each region of Europe. See below for the codes used for populations or regions.
