The Research Students' Conference in Probability and Statistics will run from Monday 20th March to Thursday 23rd March 2006. It will be hosted by the Department of Statistics in the University of Glasgow.

It is organised by postgraduates, for postgraduates, providing a friendly environment for students to meet others with similar interests. The RSC has become rather popular through the years, and now in it's 29th year we are expecting over 150 delegates to attend.

For many students, this conference will provide their first experience of presenting a talk or a poster, and delegates are also given the opportunity to chair a session. Students who are attending the event for the first time often choose not to present their work; however they still benefit from attending the talks and meeting people who are working in a similar field.

If delegates decide to present their work, they can do so in the form of an oral presentation or a poster. The oral presentations will be of 15 minutes duration with 5 minutes of questions. Talks will run in four parallel sessions throughout the second and third days of the conference.

The posters will be presented during a dedicated poster session, when delegates will have a special opportunity to peruse them over afternoon tea.

On the evening of Wednesday 22nd March a 'Meet the Sponsors' wine reception will be held at St Andrews in the Square. Sponsors are welcome to display a manned or unmanned stand at the reception, which will provide an informal and relaxed environment for delegates and sponsors to find out more about each other. This will provide an excellent opportunity for those considering their options after the successful completion of their studies.

The cost of this year's conference is £185. This registration fee includes accomodation, meals and entertainment. The deadline for registration is the 20th January 2006 (or earlier if places are filled). Regretfully, it will not be possible to make refunds to anyone who has paid and has to withdraw after this date. The deadline for abstract submission is the 3rd February 2006.

The organisers this year are listed in the contacts section to the left. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
